Spilonota sp.

Post by MPStanyer »

I initially thought the attached was a dark form of Bud Moth, Spilonota ocellana but my Obsidentify app suggests Spilonota laricana. I'm not sure whether they are separable from appearance but would welcome any opinions on its likely identity.
Many thanks
Martyn

Hi Martyn
The NMRS guidelines recommend that S. laricana is dissected, so unless you have retained the moth it will have to be aggragated.
