Acleris abietana New to Cheshire

Post by stevehind »

Acleris abietana New to Cheshire:

Caught this very fresh Acleris abietana in my Higher Poynton garden last night (01/10/2011), which may well have emerged from my neighbours Norway Spruce. The moth is brown, not grey as in my pictures.

The first British record was at Perth in 1965, which was thought to have been introduced with conifers from Scandinavia. It has since become established in a number of sites in Scotland and Northern England, reaching Yorkshire (VC64) in 2005. More recently there have been records from Southern England; Herefordshire, 2008; Worcestershire, 2011.

Steve
