Late Dark Arches?
Mothing in my garden is rather slow at present, but when the temperature at dusk is reasonable I usually put my trap out for a few hours. Last night (19th November 2011) it was 10 deg C at 5.00pm so out went the trap. I attracted 2 Winter Moths (Operophtera brumata), 1 Mottled Umber (Erannis defoliaria) and what I can only decide is a Dark Arches (Apamea monoglypha) to Actinic light. I normally get this species between June and August and my previous latest date in any year was September 2nd. However the latest date according to Mapmate for VC58 is November 11th. Are these just late emergers or perhaps second brood?
Friday night I ran a MV trap for Garden Moth Scheme and attracted 2 Light-brown Apple Moths (Epiphyas postvittana) and 1 Diamond-back Moth (Plutella xylostella).

There was a rather worn Dark Arches in the Moth Trap at Marbury CP yesterday morning - will one linger into December anywhere?
