Hi folks,

The beast in the attached photo was in our garden trap in Elton last week. March is traditionally a period during which we practically never catch micros ...... net result, I've no clue as to what it is! Offers?

How about our first Cheshire Leek Moth Acrolepiopsis assectella.

Presumably not a welcome addition to the county from a gardening perspective.

I'm not sure I'd have gotten Acrolepsiopsis assectella from looking at the photo in UKMoths, or in MOGBI Vol 3, or in Parenti !! Then again, they all look like pristine specimens and this one certainly isn't. However, looking on the net for other images of less perfect specimens it looks good for it.

It brings us to 20 species in March so far, including five new for the garden!
