Online Wildlife Exchange Session - The City Nature Challenge & iNaturalist: A Citizen Science Revolution?

Date and time: Thu, 29 July 2021; 19:00 – 20:30 BST

At this online talk we're joined by Ben Deed from our neighbouring Local Environmental Records Centre, Merseyside Biobank.

The City Nature Challenge is a global citizen science event, which this year involved an amazing 419 cities across 44 countries, with over 50,000 people recording their local wildlife. At this online talk we'll explore the recent explosion of interest and uptake in the challenge. We'll also be taking a look at iNaturalist, the popular system that sits behind it and how this fits into the wider context of biological recording in the UK.

There will be a chance for questions and discussion as well as the talk, so whether you're new to the City Nature Challenge or a seasoned iNaturalist expert, come along to discover what it's all about, why it's important and how you can get involved.

The event is hosted on Zoom which is free to use in this context. You will receive a link to the session when you book your place. Only 1 ticket is needed per household (as long as you all watch through the same device).

These evenings provide a brilliant opportunity to learn a bit more about UK native species from local experts. They are hosted by RECORD and Chester Zoo. We are temporarily moving things online whilst face-to-face sessions aren't possible and hope you enjoy this new version of the events just as much!

* Please note the change in day-of-the-week from normal - this session is on THURSDAY not Wednesday.*

This event has limited capacity - if you find that you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your place via Eventbrite or email so that someone else can take your place.
