WEx Hybrid - Dragonflies 25th May

Post by RachelMC »

We are extremely excited to announce that our next Wildlife Exchange Session will be a HYBRID session - you can attend either online via Zoom OR in-person. We're joined by Tony Parker who will be delving into the fascinating world of our local dragonfly species.

Wednesday 25 May, 7:00pm - 9.00pm
EITHER Cedar House, Chester Zoo, CH2 1LH OR Online via Zoom

Dragonfly season is beginning and many of us will have already started to spot the adults of these charismatic, colourful insects zooming around ponds and rivers. There are 57 species of 'Odonata' (dragonflies and damselflies) in the UK. These impressive invertebrates are predatory and 'Odonata' refers to their fearsome mouthparts!

At this event, Tony will talk us through some identification top tips for the dragonfly species you're likely to encounter in Cheshire. We'll also be finding out more about the amazing ecology and behaviour of this group and learning how important recording is for their protection.

There will be the chance for both the online and in-person audience to ask questions after the talk.

*IMPORTANT - Please ensure you book the right type of ticket.
You will need to book for either the in-person event at Cedar House (Chester Zoo) OR the online zoom talk. Places on both events are limited and booking is essential.*

BOOK HERE

For the online event: You will receive a link to the session when you book your place. Only 1 ticket is needed per household (as long as you all watch through the same device). The online event will start at 6:50pm and we will be going 'live' at 7pm.

For the in-person event: Please be aware that the event will be live-streamed to the zoom audience. We will be filming the speaker and not the audience so your face will not be shown. The main talk will also be recorded to be published on YouTube, however the recording will be turned off during the questions. Doors open at 6:30pm and there will be free hot drinks / snacks ahead of the talk starting at 7pm.

Our Wildlife Exchange Sessions are hosted by RECORD and Chester Zoo.
