Online Wildlife Exchange Session - Cheshire's Mammals

Post by RachelMC »

We'd like to invite you to our first Online Wildlife Exchange Session, all about Cheshire's Mammals.

When? Wednesday 29 July 19:00-20:30
How? Using free Microsoft Teams software (more info below)

BOOK YOUR FREE PLACE

Did you know... that there are around 90 species of British Mammal?! However many of these charismatic animals are sadly under threat with 1 in 5 species at risk of extinction.

Recording mammals is now more important than ever for understanding how their populations respond to threats and informing conservation decisions. Yet both nationally and locally, mammals are in fact an incredibly under-recorded group with information on even the 'common' species severely lacking. Did you know for example that we only hold only 2557 records of rabbits from the whole of the last 10 years?!

At this event, Tony Parker from Liverpool World Museum will talk us through some identification top tips for Cheshire's terrestrial mammal species. We'll also be finding out more about their amazing ecology and behaviour and learning how important recording is for their protection.

The event is hosted on Microsoft teams which is free to use in this context. You will receive a link to the session and joining instructions when you book your place. Only one ticket is needed per household (as long as you all watch through the same device). Booking is essential.

These evenings provide a brilliant opportunity to learn a bit more about UK native species from local experts. They are hosted by RECORD and Chester Zoo. We are temporarily moving things online whilst face-to-face sessions aren't possible and hope you enjoy this new version of the events just as much!
