Online WEx Session: Carbon Science Citizen Landscape Project

Post by RachelMC »

At our February Online Wildlife Exchange Session we're excited to be joined by Steve Atkins from the Carbon Landscape Citizen Science Project. Steve will tell us all about the programme and why voluntary recorders are so important.

Wednesday 24 February 7:00pm - 8:30pm

The Carbon Landscape Project is a major scheme focused on protecting, restoring and enhancing mossland and wetland habitats in the Great Manchester Wetlands Nature Improvement Area. As part of this, a Citizen Science Project has been running since 2017. Volunteer surveyors have been hard at work monitoring wildlife including farmland birds, willow tits, bitterns, water voles and dragonflies.

At this Online Wildlife Exchange Session, Steve will talk us through the results of these surveys, which are crucial for monitoring these threatened species and measuring the success of restoration works. Plus find out how you could be involved in the Citizen Science Project and learn about training opportunities available this year.

You can find out more about the project here.

The event is hosted on Zoom which is free to use in this context. You will receive a link to the session when you book your place. Only 1 ticket is needed per household (as long as you all watch through the same device).

These evenings provide a brilliant opportunity to learn a bit more about UK native species from local experts. They are hosted by RECORD and Chester Zoo. We are temporarily moving things online whilst face-to-face sessions aren't possible and hope you enjoy this new version of the events just as much!

This event has limited capacity - if you find that you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your place via Eventbrite or email info@record-lrc.co.uk so that someone else can take your place.
