Online WEx session - The Chester Wetland Centre

Post by RachelMC »

At our March Online Wildlife Exchange Session we're excited to be joined by MSc student Alfie Martin-Parsons whose studies are informing the development of the ambitious Chester Wetland Centre project.

When? Wednesday 31 March 7:00pm - 8:30pm
How? Using free zoom software (more info below)

Book your free place

The Chester Wetland Centre project aims to transform an area of The Countess of Chester Country Park into a biodiverse wet meadow habitat, creating a space which will benefit both people and wildlife. But like all good conservation projects, scientific monitoring is crucial to inform its development.

Alfie will tell us about his ongoing research which involves long term surveying of the area to understand its wildlife and the potential impacts restoration work will have. We'll discover how comparisons with improved habitat at Chester Zoo Nature Reserve are providing useful information for the project and where the Chester Wetland Centre fits in the wider conservation picture.

Plus come along to find out how important citizen science is to the project. Alfie will fill us in on how data submitted to RECORD contributes to his work and how local people can get involved in collecting vital information on the area's wildlife.

You can find out more about the project by following Alfie on Twitter: @AM-PWildlife or Instagram: @ampwildlife.

The event is hosted on Zoom which is free to use in this context. You will receive a link to the session when you book your place. Only 1 ticket is needed per household (as long as you all watch through the same device).

These evenings provide a brilliant opportunity to learn a bit more about UK native species from local experts. They are hosted by RECORD and Chester Zoo. We are temporarily moving things online whilst face-to-face sessions aren't possible and hope you enjoy this new version of the events just as much!

This event has limited capacity - if you find that you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your place via Eventbrite or email info@record-lrc.co.uk so that someone else can take your place.
