The Green Shield-bug (Palomena prasina) made its first colonisation of Cheshire within the last 20 years (sorry I don't have the exact date of the first record to hand at the moment - perhaps Steve Judd (County Heteroptera Recorder) may chime in with the dates). Since then it has become one of our commonest shield-bugs in the county of Cheshire.
This year (2008) I have found them on a number of occasions in the front-garden in Runcorn BUT on every occasion they have been on the leaves of Butterfly Bush (Buddleia davidii). Does anyone know if this species of shield-bug has a particular affinity for Buddleia or has anyone else noticed the apparent correlation of this insect with this bush ??
Cheers
