Latest moths for us.

Post by bobhelencoan »

High winds and almost constant overnight showers have meant we have not put the trap out much. However5th November produced 12 moths. Our first December moth for the year plus three Sprawlers. We know Sprawlers seem to be restricted to south east Cheshire and we have had one before but it was nice to see three. Perhaps Clive will not have to wait too long to trap one as he is only a couple of miles away.
We do not seem to get Chestnut moths, ours always appear to be dark chestnut. Have posted an image of our latest for a second opinion. B0b & Helen

Two moths we've never had. All our Chestnuts are just plain Chestnuts - but I'd definitely call yours Dark Chestnuts. And the Sprawlers are sublime.

I've chickened out on trapping on the last couple of nights, but the thought of Sprawlers is gnawing away at me! Fancy there being a fine brace of them just down the road!
