Two micros for confirmation

Post by mikew »

Trapped at Carden SJ4654 last night and had these two.
Could someone please confirm if they are Teleiopsis diffinis & Dichrorampha acuminatana?

Regards, Mike

The top photo certainly seems to match exactly the text description of Teleiopsis diffinis in Sterling and Parsons. Photos on Norfolk Moths, UK Moths and lepiforum.de show that it can be quite variable.

It would be good to get further opinions; there have only ever been 34 records in Cheshire.

The Dichrorampha sp. looks a bit worn. One of the distinguishing features I see on the photo galleries is the shining white cilia, but unfortunately these seem to have been worn off the moth in your photo.

Again, would be good to get further opinions.
* Edit *: Mike, I've just noticed that it's a Category 4 species, so would need gen. det. anyway.

Thanks Dave
I'll send the tortrix off for dissection together with the phyllonorycter
