Hi All,
Square-spot Deerfly (Chrysops viduatus) at Burton Mere Wetlands today, Sunday 12th July 2015 .Several seen inside Visitor Centre. The square spot on the second abdominal segment and reddish/orange mid-tibia (fore and hind both dark) helped to separate it from others in the Chrysops genus.
