A Biodiversity Information System for Cheshire, Halton, Warrington & Wirral

A gentleman from Alderley Edge has taken this photograph (below), which he thinks is a Slender Ground Hopper (Tetrix subulata). I've copied his text and photo below:

"Dear Record

We saw this small ground hopper in our garden this morning, sunning itself on the patio. It was just under 1cm in size. This is the first time we have seen such a creature.

We live in Duke street, Alderley Edge – if you can confirm the species – it looks to us like a Slender Ground-hopper.

This looks like Common Ground Hopper (Tetrix undulata), due to the short length of the projection of the pronotum over the body. Compare it with my images of Slender Ground Hopper (Tetrix subulata) in the latest Orthoptera sightings thread (http://www.record-lrc.co.uk/forum/downl ... id=173&t=1). Never-the-less another record of an under-recorded species!!
