Plight of the Mole (Talpa europea):

Hi All,

On my way home from work today 27/07/2011) I came across a dead mole in the middle of a field of rank vegetation. Often the only time I see a mole, is dead on the roadside not in the middle of a field. There was no sign of wounding, in fact it appeared very fresh and clean. No flies around or any nasty smell.

I took it home to photograph the specimen. Although it appeared well fed I can't help thinking that it died of starvation unable to find enough worms and may have resorted to feeding on unsuitable material.

I would like your opinions PLEASE.

Cheers,

Harry
