Leaf mine quiz ..... 1of 4:

Hi folks,

The weather has obliged me to stay indoors today, so I set about something I've been meaning to do for a long while ...... tidy up my moth photos! Amongst them are a number of 'unknowns', in these cases, leaf-mine in origin, so I thought I'd post them here in the hope that someone may be able to put a name to one or more ..... if not then I can happily bin them!

I appreciate that some (if not all!) will not be identifiable due to them being old and worn. They have all come from within the 4*4km square that are tetrads SJ47G, H, L and M, immediately to the south and west of (and containing) Elton, Cheshire.

Cheers,
Steve

I'm worse on trees than I am on leaf-mines ....... but Oak, Rowan, Sycamore and Hawthorn for sure ........

Hi Steve,

Photo 24.10.09 looks like Parornix devoniella, providing the leaf is Hazel, likewise photo 17.10.09
Photo 16th October 2009_b appears to be Elm, so look to see which side the larva has emerged from.

Not sure about the others but I agree with Steve McWilliam's request to know the tree species to give us any chance.
