Close Focus Binoculars:
I recently bought a pair of Pentax Papilio 8.5x21 binoculars which claim to focus down to 50cm - mine focus down to 45cm.
They have proved very useful for getting good views of micromoths (and macros), in and around my trap, while reducing the chances of disturbing and losing the moth. Should also be useful for examining insects and plants in the field.
They are available from Amazon for £95, perhaps cheaper elsewhere.
