Help with ID please:

Could anyone help me to identify this insect please? I think it's a hoverfly of some kind but am not sure. I found it in the garden over the weekend (Shocklach, south Cheshire).

Not a Hoverfly (Diptera: Syrphidae).

It is in fact a Sawfly (Hymenoptera: Symphyta).
