Scorpion Fly (Panorpa germanica):
This Scorpion Fly (Panorpa germanica) was photographed at the RSPB reserve at Burton Mere Wetlands on 30th May 2013. The hypovalve on this male showed the diagnostic, slightly diverging marks expanded at the tips.
I must give credit to Steve McBill for alerting the group about the excellent identification guide to these Mecoptera on the Topsham Naturalist site.
